What We Do

Since 2019, we have taught English in Los Roques. Now we are in Canaima as well. Leading to increase education in each community, encourage sustainable tourism, and increase their economic development.

Our Mission

To increase literacy in remote communities with high tourist potential through demographically adapted English education. Our main goal is to promote sustainable tourism as a way to diversify Venezuela’s economy.

Our Vision

We envision to empower communities through education to promote social, cultural and economic development that will translate into better life qualities for remote populations using education as a foundation and solution to the current economic crisis and future state-building.

What We have Achieved

  • In 2019, we won the Resolution Project Fellowship, beginning our journey.

  • We were able to create our organization in the US as a 501(c)(3) and in Venezuela as a “fundación”..

  • Completed our training process with 3 volunteers cohorts.

  • Started imparting classes in the community of Los Roques with 92 Roqueño children.

  • Opened an adults’ section with 30 participants in Los Roques.

  • Developed a virtual remote learning strategy for rural communities with insufficient access to technology, during the COVID-19 quarantine.

  • Reached a total of 236 registered beneficiaries between both communities.

  • Won Honorable Mention in the “Saca El Pecho” Challenge among 1237 projects in Venezuela in 2020.

  • Began expansion studies in other communities in Venezuela with high touristic potential.

  • In 2022, we expanded our mission to the indigenous community of Canaima, with 75 children students and over 45 adults.

  • Designed our impact measurement guidelines.

  • Received the Dean’s Community Service Award from the Harvard Medical School which recognizes individuals or organizations whose dedication and commitment to community service have made a positive impact on the local, national, or international community.

Where we want to go

As E-ROQ, our students in Los Roques began as Turtles. The next levels of our program are Sunshine, Kiters, and Surfers. In 5 years, we hope to see our first cohort of graduates in Los Roques.

After expanding our dream to Canaima as E-VEN, our students in this community have begun as Seeds. Then, they will become Sprouts, Blossoms, and Trees.

As both programs are demographically adapted to high touristic locations of difficult access, we will study the possibility of expanding to other places with the same features, aiming to help them communicate better with international tourists.

The purpose of our project has always been directed towards the future we hope for Venezuela, in which the economy is not only dependent on the oil industry but multiple affairs, including sustainable tourism.
